“This Present Moment:
Crafting a Better World”

Bert’s work will be included in this group exhibition highlighting the role that artists play in sparking essential conversations, stories of resilience, and methods of activism to demonstrate a more relational and empathetic world. The exhibition will focus on often-overlooked histories and contributions of women, people of color, and other marginalized communities.

This Present Moment marks the fiftieth anniversary of SAAM’s Renwick Gallery as the nation’s preeminent center for the enjoyment of American craft.

The Nevada Museum of Art will mount a major mid-career survey exhibition of Bert’s work, accompanied by a 200+ page catalog. Bert works at the forefront of cultural and technological innovation and his artwork gives voice to people who have been marginalized, silenced, and overlooked. This mid-career survey includes artworks in a variety of traditional and contemporary media that are drawn from the entirety of Bert’s career, as well as new works produced exclusively for this exhibition.

European Textile Network

Guillermo Bert was invited to talk at an international conference in Europe. The next ETN conference will take place online between September and October, 2022. The topic is “Code – stories in textiles” which will be viewed from different perspectives: ethnographic, art – and social history, and contemporary textile art.
